Want to know what it is?!? Bloggers wearing stripes! Yep, that's it!<br />
<br />
So here is a photo of me wearing my purple stripes (one of the two shirts I own with stripes)! *And yes, I did go put it on just for this blog picture!<br />

Elijah enjoys (for the most part) getting his picture taken, unless of course we have paid for it to be done! <strong><u>Summer Pasta Salad</u></strong><br />
<br />
1 box of spiral noodles [16oz]<br />
1 bottle of Creamy Caesar Dressing<br />
1 container of Cherry Tomatoes<br />
1 Green Bell Pepper<br />
1 Cucumber<br />
<br />
Optional-Tuna or Chicken and Mozzarella or Parmesan Cheese<br />
<br />
Make the noodles according to the box. While your noodles are cooking chop your tomatoes in half and your cucumbers and pepper in small chunks. When the noodles are done, rinse with cold water while straining. Then mix the noodles and all the chopped veggies in a large dish. Next add your dressing. You may not use the whole bottle, add according to your liking. I use about 3/4 the bottle. I do 1/2 the bottle then refrigerate the dish for a while, then add more right before serving [adds more flavor]. <br />
<br />
The first night I made this I did add Tuna since we were eating just this. But I did make it without and it is good both ways.<br />

The recipe was given to me by my mom. Enjoy...<br />
<br />
2 loaves frozen bread dough, thawed<br />
1 cup Brown Sugar<br />
1/2 cup butter or margarine<br />
1 [heaping] tsp Cinnamon<br />
2 Tbs Corn Syrup<br />
<br />
In sauce pan over medium heat melt butter<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DYYhVBAETx4/TeBgcjY5YLI/AAAAAAAAAa0/Grns_Sj4mB4/s1600/Ebaby+009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DYYhVBAETx4/TeBgcjY5YLI/AAAAAAAAAa0/Grns_Sj4mB4/s320/Ebaby+009.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
then stir in sugar, cinnamon, and corn syrup...just until blended. Cut 1 loaf into small pieces [each loaf about 30-40 pieces] and place in the bottom of a greased 9x13 cake pan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KwHi6wPXO1Y/TeBgo0fg4ZI/AAAAAAAAAbM/LiBLs6GSOD0/s1600/Ebaby+018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KwHi6wPXO1Y/TeBgo0fg4ZI/AAAAAAAAAbM/LiBLs6GSOD0/s320/Ebaby+018.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kxGwtv02HjE/TeBggrxnEaI/AAAAAAAAAa8/CCHqJ_c8JtU/s1600/Ebaby+011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kxGwtv02HjE/TeBggrxnEaI/AAAAAAAAAa8/CCHqJ_c8JtU/s320/Ebaby+011.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
Pour half of the caramel mixture over the top. Cut the second loaf and scatter over the top of the caramel mixture/first loaf. Pour the remainder of the mixture over the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EfjITAD9fyQ/TeBgrgb0OXI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/lynvPi8d5PE/s1600/Ebaby+021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EfjITAD9fyQ/TeBgrgb0OXI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/lynvPi8d5PE/s320/Ebaby+021.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ktAJSyYe6qw/TeBgTHrEN0I/AAAAAAAAAao/B5xXxYtiH2I/s1600/Ebaby+025.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ktAJSyYe6qw/TeBgTHrEN0I/AAAAAAAAAao/B5xXxYtiH2I/s320/Ebaby+025.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Cover and let rise until double in size [I usually do all this in the evening and then put it in the refrigerator. In the morning, take it out an hour or two before you are going to bake it]. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. When you take it out of the oven, let it set in pan abut 5 minutes then invert it on waxed paper or foil and serve warm.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wiOzm_130WI/TeFEibXEouI/AAAAAAAAAbU/dobKvnYaNaw/s1600/rolls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wiOzm_130WI/TeFEibXEouI/AAAAAAAAAbU/dobKvnYaNaw/s320/rolls.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
**Couple side notes: The first time I made this I accidentally put in 1 HEAPING Tablespoon of Cinnamon instead of Teaspoon and my husband prefers it that way now. However it doesn't get as "caramelly" it was just more cinnamon. The second time I made it I did a 1/2 TBS and I thought that was perfect!!<br />

This year two amazingly talented photographers, <a href="http://www.jenniegaskins.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue;">Jennie Gaskins</span></a> and <a href="http://www.delavue.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue;">Rachel Nadeau</span></a>, took mini photo sessions for families, couples or individuals. And this year I talked Josh into doing a session!!<br />

Aren't you excited?!?<br />
<br />
So it all started in 2005...I started calling the Oprah show trying to get tickets to go and be in the audience for a taping of the show. I had called and called and even sent a few last minute email reservations, never getting through to anyone on the phones and or having anyone email me back about my emails.<br />
<br />
Well, that ALL changed on Friday, March 14th at 12:27pm 2008! I was at the Champlin library, so I had to have my phone off...well I put it on vibrate...and felt it go off...so I looked down and had a missed call with a voicemail.<br />
<br />
I started to listen to it....and then I heard it...<i>"This message is for Daphne. This is Becky from the Oprah Winfrey show, we received your email..."</i> and my heart started beating so fast, I was shaking, and then I gasped....no way was this really happening! I threw all my stuff in my purse and ran out of the library. I got in my car and played the message again <strike>while driving</strike>...I listened to the whole message and started screaming!!! I called Josh...no answer, called my mom....no answer, called Kelsey....no answer! I drove to the church and ran into Josh and Dave...I told them and they couldn't believe it either!<br />
<br />
I finally gained a little control and called Becky back...no answer, so I left a message and drove home. On they way home she called me back and we worked out all the details...were ready to go for Monday, YES that coming Monday!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wbrUXpOQSB4/TdsQdwOq44I/AAAAAAAAAZU/OY3IEWF_Px0/s1600/o1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wbrUXpOQSB4/TdsQdwOq44I/AAAAAAAAAZU/OY3IEWF_Px0/s320/o1.jpg" width="238" /></a></div><br />
I asked Bert to go with me! We were so excited!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vyAyBVZBxsU/TdnR8lG7XJI/AAAAAAAAAZE/BDNxD5Qo1v4/s1600/o2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vyAyBVZBxsU/TdnR8lG7XJI/AAAAAAAAAZE/BDNxD5Qo1v4/s320/o2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We left Sunday night and drove to Chicago, arriving about 12:45am. We stayed with Bert's aunt. We were wiped out but we were suppose to watch Oprah's Big Give (that was part of the show) so Bert (just newly pregnant) went to bed and I stayed up to watch it. I went to bed around 2:30am...only to wake up about 5am.<br />
<br />
We got ready and headed to the studio to arrive a little before 7am, only to find there were about 250 people ahead of us already! So we stood in line and waited...We finally got in and waited some more. Then it happened...our number was called and we were allowed to enter...and it was so great!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EDn2ZEWt6dg/TdnR78K3Y-I/AAAAAAAAAY8/2_HelsvLWLk/s1600/o4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EDn2ZEWt6dg/TdnR78K3Y-I/AAAAAAAAAY8/2_HelsvLWLk/s320/o4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Oprah was beautiful and walked in right in front of us! Then Simon Cowell came out...who by the way is very funny, and pretty good looking for an older guy! We also got to see Leona (the winner of the British "American" Idol), Carlana (the 3rd to get booted off Oprah's Big Give), The Naked Chef, Jamie Oliver, and Kristie Alley.<br />
<br />
We also got to stay and be in the audience for the taping of Kristie Alley's potential new show. We were in the 2nd row for that, so we should be on TV for sure if it airs!! Oh and as we left we received Leona's brand new CD!<br />
<br />
After the show we headed back to MN...it was an AMAZING 24 hour trip!!<br />
<br />
<div style="color: #20124d;"><b>Now you would think the story would end there...but it doesn't! Nope it sure doesn't...</b></div><br />
After my year of waiting, because you do have to wait a year to try for tickets again, I would check Oprah.com <strike>every once in a while</strike> rarely for tickets. Then they changed the way you get tickets and instead of calling it is all done by email reservations. One night I just happened to look and see there were some tickets and the deadline was that night! So, I thought "why not give it a try." Well the next day there it was...the email from Oprah...telling me I got four tickets!!! (*last time I got only two)<br />
<br />
I asked Rawney, Michelle and Kristi to go with me!<br />
<br />

We left the day before because we had the chance to see a "sneak preview" of Why Did I Get Married Too? by Tyler Perry (and FREE popcorn and pop...Thanks Oprah). <br />

We stayed at a nice hotel and then the next morning had our Dunkin Donuts and off we went to the taping! We waited in line but thankfully not as many people were ahead of us (as were the first time I went). We got in, and thanks to Rawney and I being pregnant we got to sit close to the doors and bathrooms, then we waited...once we got in we enjoyed the show! We saw Oprah, Tyler Perry, and Janet Jackson! We got Janet Jackson's new CD, and some men's body wash!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">AND you could see a little bit of me on the show once it aired!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H1Po3wT8MFU/TdsT8tjUlMI/AAAAAAAAAZc/wYEPXokgHNA/s1600/o5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H1Po3wT8MFU/TdsT8tjUlMI/AAAAAAAAAZc/wYEPXokgHNA/s320/o5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
Well Oprah, you had a good run with some great guests, bad outfits, crazy hair, and many tears...thanks for taking me along! <br />

This event is all about prayer...praying for our husbands through the month of June. And in case you don't know...SHMILY means See How Much I Love You!<br />

Here are a little more details...(details found <a href="https://www.facebook.com/notes/amy-verlennich/shmily-for-30-days-of-prayer-3rd-annual/10150261933581340" style="color: red;">here</a> on Facebook)<br />
<blockquote><strong>WHAT YOU’LL NEED:</strong> “The Power of a Praying Wife” by Stormie OMartian. (You can use the “older” version as well.<br />
<br />
<strong>WHAT YOU’LL DO:</strong> Read a chapter a day, which includes a prayer. (Even if you’ve read this book before, you can just do the prayers and skip the reading… the point is for you to PRAY!)<br />
<br />
<strong>FYI:</strong> Click the following link to join women all over the world in the 3rd Annual <em><strong>S.H.M.I.L.Y. for 30 days of prayer… (</strong></em><a href="http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=188071037909718" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=188071037909718</a>). To stay updated, join <strong>SHMILY Time on facebook (</strong><a href="http://www.facebook.com/SHMILYtime" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.facebook.com/SHMILYtime</a>)!<br />
<br />
<strong>THE POINT:</strong> To get wives praying for their husbands… that’s it! Doesn’t matter what the background, denomination of faith (or lack there of), or current state your life is in… Let’s get those hubbies covered in prayer and stand back and expect great things to happen to them, our marriages, and even ourselves as we petition God on their behalf!<br />
<br />
<strong><em>SPECIAL NOTE: We’ve had not only married women sign up for this event, but also women separated praying for reconciliation, and divorced, widowed and single women wanting to pray for their husband to be!</em></strong><br />
<br />
Please spread the word to others and invite them to join the event!</blockquote><br />
I am excited to see what God has in story for me and my relationship with Josh on this June Journey. Will you join me on this journey of praying for our husbands?<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/6180822244585007346-8215443398494435673?l=daphnehope.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Daphne Hopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03460189671168410534lifesaproject1@gmail.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6180822244585007346.post-53150365108775671092011-05-19T15:25:00.000-05:002011-05-19T15:25:20.476-05:002011-05-19T15:25:20.476-05:00Fabric Flowers: Tutorial<div style="text-align: center;">Today's DIY project...Fabric Flowers!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I first saw how to make two different kinds of Fabric Flowers on <a href="http://delightfulorder.blogspot.com/2011/05/fabric-flower-tutorial.html">Delightful Order</a> and also on <a href="http://beachhouseinthecity.blogspot.com/2011/05/pretty-flower-easiest-diy-ever.html">Beach House in the City</a>. I attempted to make one of each with a few variations of my own.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Here is the first flower I attempted from the Beach House in the City <a href="http://beachhouseinthecity.blogspot.com/2011/05/pretty-flower-easiest-diy-ever.html">tutorial</a>. I have to admit, Natalie's turned out way cuter than mine.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8YvQdgqssu4/TdV5klYOR-I/AAAAAAAAAYg/cRTk2PNzwCI/s1600/DIY+036.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8YvQdgqssu4/TdV5klYOR-I/AAAAAAAAAYg/cRTk2PNzwCI/s320/DIY+036.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xPwh4ZNggWY/TdV402luxpI/AAAAAAAAAX4/WaaZPMXURXk/s1600/DIY+039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xPwh4ZNggWY/TdV402luxpI/AAAAAAAAAX4/WaaZPMXURXk/s320/DIY+039.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I cut some fabric (*Fabric: I used an old denim dress and bought some black cotton fabric in the remnants section) in long strips and then into shorter strips. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JI4TqkbxPp8/TdV4_Rud_hI/AAAAAAAAAYE/MiIiWvb7aoQ/s1600/DIY+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JI4TqkbxPp8/TdV4_Rud_hI/AAAAAAAAAYE/MiIiWvb7aoQ/s320/DIY+008.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I layered them. hot gluing in between each layer. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oQ6ATdRQPOg/TdV5H_aCdbI/AAAAAAAAAYM/lRIBiRO1KiQ/s1600/DIY+014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oQ6ATdRQPOg/TdV5H_aCdbI/AAAAAAAAAYM/lRIBiRO1KiQ/s320/DIY+014.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">At the end I crinkled up the last piece of fabric and hot glued that on.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-96hein7k5zg/TdV4wWQe1oI/AAAAAAAAAX0/_3-I7Lb9U1k/s1600/DIY+036.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-96hein7k5zg/TdV4wWQe1oI/AAAAAAAAAX0/_3-I7Lb9U1k/s320/DIY+036.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Here is my second attempt at a Fabric Flower, this time using Delightful Order's <a href="http://delightfulorder.blogspot.com/2011/05/fabric-flower-tutorial.html">tutorial</a>. I must say I personal like this pattern better. Probably because my first attempt didn't turn out using BH in the City's tutorial. (Well it didn't turn out as cute).</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w0IFZtPY7VA/TdV5aljkEsI/AAAAAAAAAYY/VBpwiSBc7y0/s1600/DIY+020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w0IFZtPY7VA/TdV5aljkEsI/AAAAAAAAAYY/VBpwiSBc7y0/s320/DIY+020.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ML83WfzahEs/TdV5UuSlf0I/AAAAAAAAAYU/s79gPJoteoc/s1600/DIY+016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ML83WfzahEs/TdV5UuSlf0I/AAAAAAAAAYU/s79gPJoteoc/s320/DIY+016.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">For this flower I cut out "circles" and purposely did not make them perfect circles. I made each circle smaller. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HeE78EPh0ZY/TdV5O3m85oI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/HTgXqSE_yFg/s1600/DIY+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HeE78EPh0ZY/TdV5O3m85oI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/HTgXqSE_yFg/s320/DIY+015.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Then layered each circle, hot gluing them in the middle. The first flower I just laid flat. The second one I kind of crunched up as I hot glued, making it more dimensional. (I like the second one better...with the more dimensional look). At the end I scrunched up a piece of fabric for the center of the flower.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qQbksw2Hn_o/TdV44pe0QWI/AAAAAAAAAX8/0Jec1IXzgeY/s1600/DIY+038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qQbksw2Hn_o/TdV44pe0QWI/AAAAAAAAAX8/0Jec1IXzgeY/s320/DIY+038.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--MKsC51W0lQ/TdV5feUgHII/AAAAAAAAAYc/GbAu2ihsfWQ/s1600/DIY+022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--MKsC51W0lQ/TdV5feUgHII/AAAAAAAAAYc/GbAu2ihsfWQ/s320/DIY+022.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I then hot glued on a "jeweled button" I had laying around the house. I haven't decided what I am putting on the back yet...maybe a pin? Maybe a Hair Clip?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BcG7cyLBTmA/TdV47gh4ZoI/AAAAAAAAAYA/fjnZ9mlRypc/s1600/DIY+006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BcG7cyLBTmA/TdV47gh4ZoI/AAAAAAAAAYA/fjnZ9mlRypc/s320/DIY+006.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
I do have to take a quick minute to tell you about generationMe. It is a company started by Meg, a mom in my MOPS group. She is a mother to four children and an amazing, creative business woman! A few products I love: Large Dirty Bag (even Josh said, "it's a good thing you bought this" as we were filling it with Elijah's dirty clothes on a trip), Wash-Up Towel Washclothes, Swiffer Sweeper Pads, and now the reusable bags. You must check out her<span style="color: purple;"> </span><a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/generationme" style="color: purple;">Esty site</a>!! You can also check out her <a href="https://www.facebook.com/#%21/pages/generationMe/117028701677903" style="color: purple;">Facebook page</a>.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/6180822244585007346-8701303115945565829?l=daphnehope.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Daphne Hopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03460189671168410534lifesaproject1@gmail.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6180822244585007346.post-19852225543526382692011-05-14T23:44:00.003-05:002011-06-03T08:16:44.434-05:002011-06-03T08:16:44.434-05:00Coffee Filter Wreath<div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin: 0px;">My latest craft/DIY project...</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin: 0px;"><u>A Coffee Filter Wreath </u></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin: 0px;"><u><br />
</u></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin: 0px;">I have seen several wreaths done on several different sites and decided to give it a try. Now I am no professional crafter by any means, but I gave it a shot. </div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin: 0px;"><br />
</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin: 0px;">I started with a package of coffee filters and a foam wreath all from the dollar store. </div></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PALiqvKIEoY/Tc9UoHE4XBI/AAAAAAAAAVg/HgzZkkuHtTs/s1600/Ebaby+172.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PALiqvKIEoY/Tc9UoHE4XBI/AAAAAAAAAVg/HgzZkkuHtTs/s320/Ebaby+172.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WsfBxApeVfg/Tc9Uy9MBa6I/AAAAAAAAAVw/sy_kZLIXU84/s1600/Ebaby+180.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WsfBxApeVfg/Tc9Uy9MBa6I/AAAAAAAAAVw/sy_kZLIXU84/s320/Ebaby+180.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I also had a hot glue gun, glue sticks and ribbon (all of which I already had).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nKnpJ9XqvgM/Tc9Us4GVuiI/AAAAAAAAAVo/NfkhlC01mxk/s1600/Ebaby+176.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nKnpJ9XqvgM/Tc9Us4GVuiI/AAAAAAAAAVo/NfkhlC01mxk/s320/Ebaby+176.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Bm6Ahk4oHTQ/Tc9Uqstw1HI/AAAAAAAAAVk/bINN7hX7Slo/s1600/Ebaby+174.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Bm6Ahk4oHTQ/Tc9Uqstw1HI/AAAAAAAAAVk/bINN7hX7Slo/s320/Ebaby+174.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I attached the ribbon first to the back of the wreath with hot glue. I used brown because I had it on hand and plan to use it with a brown frame.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hVCI9d845g0/Tc9UvTOy-II/AAAAAAAAAVs/DqfER1kAhGE/s1600/Ebaby+177.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hVCI9d845g0/Tc9UvTOy-II/AAAAAAAAAVs/DqfER1kAhGE/s320/Ebaby+177.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Really all I did was fold the filters in half, then in half again and again, until they looked like this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I85u62nuX9g/Tc9Y0vJ5v2I/AAAAAAAAAWE/_qBGhuG8SvE/s1600/Ebaby+196.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I85u62nuX9g/Tc9Y0vJ5v2I/AAAAAAAAAWE/_qBGhuG8SvE/s320/Ebaby+196.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then I folded the tip and put some hot glue on...carefully...and just started putting it on the wreath in a circle fashion. I really didn't have much "pattern" going on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xpRCvJRAqTU/Tc9U44HvcdI/AAAAAAAAAV4/42Yl1iX95JM/s1600/Ebaby+182.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xpRCvJRAqTU/Tc9U44HvcdI/AAAAAAAAAV4/42Yl1iX95JM/s320/Ebaby+182.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
And I kept on a folding and gluing...until it looked like this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uE3NkSGB2S4/Tc9VnU1qOHI/AAAAAAAAAV8/_Oy2ALSt6tc/s1600/Ebaby+189.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uE3NkSGB2S4/Tc9VnU1qOHI/AAAAAAAAAV8/_Oy2ALSt6tc/s320/Ebaby+189.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tg8u7r37K6A/Tc9Vp0tVlGI/AAAAAAAAAWA/lJu_ZJz_Glc/s1600/Ebaby+187.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tg8u7r37K6A/Tc9Vp0tVlGI/AAAAAAAAAWA/lJu_ZJz_Glc/s320/Ebaby+187.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Not 100% sure where I am going to use it...<br />
<br />
Your turn, have you ever tried a coffee filter art project? I have plenty of coffee filters left so I need to find something else to try. Any ideas?<br />

<br />
For as long as I can remember Patty has wanted to have family photos done. And with Joey leaving for Oklahoma the pressure was on to get them done. Well it just wasn't happening and finally Emma and I came up with the idea to take them while Patty was gone on Tuesday! We had so much fun and got some great shots, and the best part...it was all done in secret! I left and soon after got a text from Emma saying her mom got home and REALLY wanted to do family pictures. Well I told Patty I could come on Wednesday and then that fell through and then we rescheduled for Thursday at 8am...well it was raining and Joey and Terry were going to be leaving at 8am for OK. That didn't stop us...the rain stopped at 8:30am and we ran outside, and got some shots! Patty still didn't know anything about the first shoot and they used those photos for her for Mother's Day!!<br />
<br />
I just love the Gaffney's and am so happy I could help capture these last moments that they were all home together!! Enjoy...<br />

I really think God was using her to speak directly to me this morning! Lately for some reason I have not had a heart full of joy and I desperately need to get back to that place. Dienna gave us tips on how to find joy WHILE running a household and raising our children. One of the things she shared was to write down 5 things EACH day that brought us joy. When we think about the things that bring us joy we become more joyful. Today she asked us to write down 5 things, so we spent a few minutes doing that, and then shared them! </span></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />

</div>So back in the beginning of the year I decided to sign up for a 5k...yes it was a crazy idea, I had NEVER run before in my life, nor had I ever wanted to (and still don't want to). Well I got the crazy idea in my head and signed up along with many other moms in my MOPS group, two of my best friends from college and two young ladies who were in my small group the year before. <br />
<br />
Now if you <a href="http://daphnehope.blogspot.com/2011/01/5k-training.html">remember</a> I STARTED out my training doing quite well. Then life happened...<a href="http://daphnehope.blogspot.com/2011/03/lack-there-of.html"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue;">remember</span></a> I had no motivation or training for some time. Well I will be honest, I didn't train well. On Easter Sunday I went for a mile run and thought I was going to die...not because my legs hurt but because my breathing was a struggle. I knew my legs could handle the 3.2 miles, but I did NOT think my lungs could. After some lovely advice from so many runners on Facebook about breathing I felt a little more confident.<br />
<br />
Then life happened again and all in one week I put together a garage sale fundraiser, ran it, did a photo shoot, baby shower, and raised a baby...so needless to say no training happened the week before the race either. I went into the race knowing that I would have to walk and that I was OKAY with that. <br />
<br />
Well race day came and my two besties picked me up and we headed to the race.<br />
<br />
We got our numbers on in the car...snapped some pictures of course! (Thanks Enoch) and headed to the start line. I checked in my with MOPS group to say hi! I must say I was a little shocked at how shocked they all were to see me...like I could really be a no-show after EVERYONE knew I signed up!?<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4QiGKxpIHvg/TcHCPJSzM_I/AAAAAAAAATw/GCa6RQSeg78/s1600/My+First+Race%2521.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" j8="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4QiGKxpIHvg/TcHCPJSzM_I/AAAAAAAAATw/GCa6RQSeg78/s320/My+First+Race%2521.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />

</tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>The race was about to start...I wanted to throw up!! The count down was on...Jen and Boo were so calm...I still wanted to throw up!! And it happened...the mass of people in front of us started moving, which meant any <strike>minute</strike> second I would be moving, slowing, but still moving! And we were off...<br />
<br />
Well Jen and Boo had told me they would stick with me at my pace...and they sure did! They helped me get through mile 1 (Thanks Enoch for standing there, cheering, and taking pictures), <br />
<br />

Who knew it would come so fast!?<br />
<br />
I have heard horror stories from many people about teething and I wanted to be prepared! So, I asked my dear friend Bert, over at <a href="http://adventuresinmgwiththeandersons.blogspot.com/">FTM</a>, about the "teething" necklace she purchased for her son. She got it from <a href="http://www.inspiredbyfinn.com/">InspiredByFinn</a>. She loved it! So I thought I would give it a try...I mean it can't hurt to try! I went on the <a href="http://www.inspiredbyfinn.com/">website</a> and found so many options to choice from. Well, I believe if something works, why change it, so I bought the same necklace Bert used for Brennan, the Butter Round.<br />
<br />
The necklace came for Elijah on a Monday and we popped it on him!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-R_S9cjMN0sc/Tbl8tuY-IcI/AAAAAAAAATA/Vbjj5c7cTs4/s1600/Easter+Weekend+123.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-R_S9cjMN0sc/Tbl8tuY-IcI/AAAAAAAAATA/Vbjj5c7cTs4/s320/Easter+Weekend+123.jpg" width="213" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Elijah wearing his necklace!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>At this point he had one tooth that had already broke through on Sunday. We put it on him each day (taking it off during naps and at night) and waited to see if it was helping. I have to be honest, I wasn't so sure it was...I mean he only fussed ONE day while the first tooth came through! So a little skeptical I kept on waiting. Then it hit...we didn't put it on him for hours and he was fussy...not fussy because he was hungry or tired, but fussy from teething! The other thing I have noticed (can't say 100% that it's related...) but he has had NO drooling and has rarely spit up with the necklace on (and he was spitting up every day)!! I think as time goes on and more teeth start making their way up we will be able to notice a difference with the necklace even more!<br />
<br />
But for now...<b>I am happy and Elijah is happy!</b> :) <i>PLUS</i>...their shipping is great...only $2.95!!<br />
<br />
Here is a little more about the necklaces (taken from the website):<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0033; font-family: Georgia, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Our necklaces and bracelets are handcrafted and are made of authentic Baltic amber, the most esteemed type of amber in the world. The translucency of amber depends on the amount of air bubbles contained within a piece of amber and their distribution. Some believe the color is related to the type of tree source. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0033; font-family: Georgia, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br />
</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KvneXEdqO7E/Tbl7g3-vZqI/AAAAAAAAAS8/txFKVnA4R8w/s1600/ButterRound-1-1-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="159" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KvneXEdqO7E/Tbl7g3-vZqI/AAAAAAAAAS8/txFKVnA4R8w/s320/ButterRound-1-1-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: xx-small;"><a href="http://www.inspiredbyfinn.com/">Via</a></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0033; font-family: Georgia, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Among other things, amber is a natural analgesic (pain reliever) and anti-inflammatory. When amber is worn on the skin, the warmth of the skin releases trace amounts of healing oils on the skin. Commonly known as "teething jewelry," Baltic amber has been a natural and traditional European remedy for teething discomfort for hundreds of years.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0033; font-family: Georgia, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0033; font-family: Georgia, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">The necklace fastens with a screw clasp, and the necklace cord is knotted in between each bead.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<em><span style="color: black; font-family: Georgia; font-size: x-small;">I received the necklace at a discount from InspiredByFinn for giving my honest review. <br />
<u>Here is what moms are saying about the Taggie Blankets:</u><br />
<br />
<b>My Review</b>: My son Elijah LOVES his blanket! It's a perfect size for traveling in the car, shoving into the diaper bag and taking with us everywhere. Elijah loves to suck on all the tags that hang off the edges. It's so precious to see him falling asleep hanging on to his blanket!<br />
<br />
Abby does a wonderful job creating a blanket that your child will love. She incorporates things they love, things you love and certain colors (like to match the nursery).<br />

Brennan, my 2 and a half year old, has had the same one she made for him before he was born. Since he was four months old we haven't left "Taggie" (that's what we call it) home without it. It's funny, we actually had Abby make another Taggie in case we lost the original one. Now he uses both, but prefers the original, he even calls the replacement "new Taggie."</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;"> </span></span><br />

</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-size: 13px;">I think part of the appeal babies have for Abby's blanket is it's size, the colors and fabric choices Abby uses and the durability of the blanket. We have had the same one for two and a half years and although it's well loved, it's still in one piece and the tags have not fallen off. Here's a picture of him when he was seven months old loving his Taggie. Whenever he picks it up he brings it to his face to smell it - something he's been doing since he first got attached to his Taggie.</span></span><br />

I decided to change the title for a few reasons...<br />
<br />
1. Life is a journey, but I want my blog to have many things...including home projects, recipes, ideas, and of course the happenings in our life.<br />
2. I wanted something a little catchy...so PLEASE tell me that's catchy er!! Ha ha!<br />
3. I like the name better! :)<br />
<br />
Bare with me as several more changes are underway with my blog! <b>AND</b> stayed tuned for my first giveaway tomorrow!!<br />
<br />

Josh had to work (the life of a Pastor) and Mark helps with sound tech stuff.<br />
<br />
From the minute we attempted to leave it was an adventure!!<br />
<br />
<b>Car adventures:</b> trying to get Elijah's car seat base into Kelsey's car (that has a shoulder strap instead of lap belt), Elijah not wanting to take a nap, Pablo jumping into the backseat and scaring Elijah into a hysteria, and lastly Pablo being locked up in his kennel for the remainder of the drive where he continued to whine THE WHOLE WAY!!<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">BUT...who could stay mad at this face?!</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<br />
<b>Adventures while we were there</b>: Throwing Kelsey a baby shower on Saturday and holding one Easter dinner on Saturday, Getting to meet my newest 2nd cousin (who is ADORABLE and so TINY), Hearing my Uncle Jim preach at his church, Elijah seeing his 3rd cousins (three of them), Having a second Easter lunch and getting to see a lot of family members!! AND Elijah learning to sit up for a long period of time!!!<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Elijah and Uncle Leighton</td></tr>

Then once we were home we gave Elijah his first Easter basket from mom and dad.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WEVjFmZwekw/TbcdZBMRc1I/AAAAAAAAASk/rI3FEZpxKRU/s1600/Easter+Weekend+125.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WEVjFmZwekw/TbcdZBMRc1I/AAAAAAAAASk/rI3FEZpxKRU/s320/Easter+Weekend+125.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"Is this egg for me?"</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
While all the adventures leave for great pictures and good stories it still doesn't compare to the reason for Easter and that is that Christ is Risen!<br />
<br />
How did you spend your Easter? Any good stories?<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/6180822244585007346-1595111836425755306?l=daphnehope.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Daphne Hopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03460189671168410534lifesaproject1@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6180822244585007346.post-87883796349961510222011-04-24T06:45:00.000-05:002011-04-24T06:45:12.031-05:002011-04-24T06:45:12.031-05:00Happy EasterHappy Easter from my bunny to yours...<br />

During all the hustle and bustle of Easter egg hunts, pictures with the Easter bunny, family dinners and lots of chocolate, may we not forget the real reason for celebrating Easter! Jesus is RISEN!<br />
